The Bruno group, based in Bilzen, is taking over nine service stations from André Celis. In addition to other petrol station takeovers, the group wants to develop its Bruno Foodcorner food stores. By 2030, it wants to have a presence at 50 sites.

Not everyone is convinced that traditional service stations still have a bright future, but Group Bruno believes that cars will continue to run on diesel and petrol for a long time to come. It is taking over nine unmanned service stations from the family business André Celis. They are all located in Flemish Brabant. The buyer now owns 34 service stations. The acquired pumps will soon all bear the logo of the American oil giant Esso, a brand that Group Bruno also uses for its other service stations. The group plans to continue its expansion through acquisitions or new projects. According to the company, at least five of the nine stations acquired will have a Bruno Foodcorner. These will be food shops with seating and a range of pizzas and pastas from their own oven. “We are also already present in some stations, such as in Sint-Niklaas, and we are experimenting with pop-ups at events,” explains spokesman Rudi Moesen in the newspaper De Tijd. He believes that the growth potential is considerable: by 2030, the company wants 50 sites to be equipped with a Bruno Foodcorner, with or without pumps.
