Small gesture from Uber Eats and Accountable to lighten the load of delivery drivers

Uber Eats and Accountable join forces to help delivery drivers with their administrative and tax needs. As part of the partnership, Uber Eats drivers get a free Pro subscription to Accountable, the digital accounting app built for independent contractors.

The partnership is aimed at all Uber Eats delivery drivers in Belgium, a group often faced with complex and time-consuming administrative procedures. By integrating Accountable's services, the platform aims to offer its drivers practical support in managing their tax returns, tracking their income, and anticipating their tax obligations.

This initiative is part of a context where many couriers, often young and poorly supported in their independent careers, are expressing growing needs in terms of clarity and administrative tools.

Support for structuring the status of independent worker

Accountable's offering, which centralizes supporting documents, automates VAT calculations, and offers personalized advice, aims to meet these expectations. The Pro version, worth €33.50 excluding VAT per month and 120% tax-deductible like all the app's plans, also provides access to human support, a significant element in a sometimes opaque tax environment.

For Uber Eats, this partnership is also a way to strengthen the appeal of its platform to its delivery drivers in an increasingly competitive market, and at a time when the status of platform workers is regularly debated politically and socially. Without changing the current legal framework, this initiative helps to further structure the activities of delivery drivers and offer them a digital safety net.

A double-edged sword

For Accountable, this partnership with a player like Uber Eats represents an opportunity to rapidly expand its user base to a targeted audience looking for simple and accessible tools. For Uber Eats, this is a value-added service that can build loyalty and improve delivery driver satisfaction without any immediate direct cost.

It remains to be seen whether this type of initiative will, in the medium term, address recurring criticisms of the precariousness and administrative isolation of platform workers. But by facilitating access to professional tools, this collaboration represents a step in the right direction.
